There’s something odd about wanting to find enjoyment in something that is less and less… human.

That’s some “Grimm’s Fairytales” level of broken.

Makes perfect sense.

The longer shit goes on, the most desperate things get, the more accidental and intention targeting of civilians becomes for both countries.

If ever you are in trouble with the state or make the wrong person on the internet angry, the more you’ve publically shared the easier it will be for them to find something to use against you. So… you can try not to get on anybody’s bad side to limit that possibility or you can do your best to compartmentalize your online activities.
It should be possible to ask for help or show vuneralbility online without telling anybody (or thing) absolutely everything about you every time.

I actually had that in the first draft of this comment but removed it for the less salacious “Track and Field”.

If no, then what alternatives do you prefer?English1·10 months agoMost of the stuff is in sealed and tamper evident containers, so at the very least, we’d know something was up before trying to use anything.
D61 [any]@hexbear.netto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you folks use Amazon a lot, and if yes, then why? If no, then what alternatives do you prefer?English2·10 months agoNot sure what “a lot” means but there’s some animal veterinary stuff that we buy every 6 weeks or so because… well… shit’s expensive and not always easy to find locally. It winds up being either Amazon or Chewie that has the stuff in stock and at prices (even with shipping) that are manageable with our budget.
Wonder if there will be some Democratic attempt to do a reverse “Purple Heart Band-aid” thing with this?
Wearing tampons as earrings or something.

You’ve just pointed out what’s been known since the 90’s.
The short and simple of it is:
-
Doesn’t seem like there’s hope for things getting better.
-
Following the rules doesn’t matter.
-
Suicide is hard, so why not attempt a “suicide by cop”?

figure out a way to enact his popular policies
Shouldn’t… shouldn’t he be trying to enact policies that the Democratic party supporters, progressives, liberals want? That seems to be what’s sinking his re-election chances.
People don’t want the genocide in Palestine to continue, but Joe is going to keep it going.
People don’t want the USA to keep getting in the way of Russia and Ukraine ending the war there but Joe seems to be fine keeping it going.
People in general are pretty cool with transgender people getting proper healthcare throughout their lives. Biden’s administration puts out messaging saying that trans healthcare is harmful to trans people so its okay to limit or ban it.
People are okay with abortion services being a thing. Biden is a pro-life candidate and hasn’t really been doing anything to codify abortion services into any federal law.
People would like more affordable electric commuter vehicles. Biden’s administration tariffs the shit out of Chinese manufactured electric vehicles available for import with some weak argument about it being “unfair.”
There’s probably more examples but shrugs its not like Biden is going to do anything. Waiting until the last few months before elections to suddenly put out messaging about changing how the supreme court is staffed instead of doing it almost four years ago when everybody was talking about how Trump got to pack the SC with only the ripest of reactionary picks and all the ways Biden could curb the effect the SC has on US politics/laws, feels too much like closing the barn doors after all the animals have got loose.
Cross disciplinary skills for the win yo!
D61 [any]@hexbear.netto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•if you like doing your job and going home, how do you bear with coworkers who are lazier but more popular than you and get away with doing less?English11·11 months agoIf they’re not making more work for you, its not something that needs to be worried about.
Any chance that you’re just doing to much work? Not a dig, I’m not a chatty person and prefer to do the work until its done or I’m at a stopping point and its time to go home. So my habit is to do do way more work than anybody expected me to. (Downside of being a person who tends to work moderately well with minimal supervision.)
D61 [any]@hexbear.netto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What scientific discoveries greatly weakened religion and the case of God ?English211·11 months agoGod’s an unfalsifiable claim, so there really isn’t anything that could test that hypothesis.
Pretty much any scientific test/discovery that counters anything in a religious text whose adherents view the text as completely truthful and literal. But sciencey stuff might not have much of an effect on religious folks who view their texts less literally.
But anyways… heliocentrism, germ theory, gravity, evolution through natural selection, probably a huge chunk of the field of archeology, plate tectonics, radiometric dating, probably the written language at various points in human history (but that’s not really a discovery), trans species organ transplants, decoding DNA, direct genetic engineering, CRISPR, radio telescopy.
D61 [any]@hexbear.netto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What scientific discoveries greatly weakened religion and the case of God ?English2·11 months agoYou mean unfalsifiable claims right?
You can either be a “who” or a “what”, if the movies are made more by "what"s than "who"s they’ll stop being made for "who"s and only "what"s.
