BC and AD are separate numbering schemes- so just because there is no year 0 defined doesn’t mean you can’t extrapolate - 0 AD is the same as 1 BC, and you’ll have -1 AD which is equivalent to 2 BC and so forth…

I have a 2005 car, but I don’t burn CDs. I plug my phone into a cassette adapter.
Malfeasant@lemm.eeto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•I avoid approaching women in public because I believe it's inappropriate. My parents say that it's a necessary skill. Who is right?2·13 days agoYou are misusing “intrusive thoughts” much the same way people who like a clean house misuse “OCD”. Intrusive thoughts are not something you’d be ok doing were it not for social pressures. Intrusive thoughts are things you don’t want to think about, but pop into your head anyway, like steering your car into oncoming traffic, or punching your grandma.

Fortunately I’ve been to a cardiologist recently and found my heart is fine. Still don’t know what was wrong with me for several months, but it wasn’t that.
While this is true, I was still grossed out when my wife used to repeatedly borrow my toothbrush… Like yeah, we’d kiss and exchange many more bodily fluids, but it’s not like we’re scraping each other’s teeth and digging between gums and teeth when we’re kissing…
Hell if I remember so long ago, redhat was in the mix, then mandrake… I ran Gentoo for years on a server, until I got bitten by some upgrade woes, then switched to Debian, then arch, now truenas. Meanwhile on my desktop I bounced around even more… Ubuntu until the stupid wannabe metro UI, then switched to mint, which I used exclusively (as in without dual-booting windows) for a while… Meanwhile my laptop dual boots Manjaro alongside windows 11…
Mine was slackware in I think 1997?

Malfeasant@lemm.eeto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you associate with certain impending doom?1·1 month agoI drove at least a thousand miles to see the one that crossed the US in 2017. I agree with the awesomeness of it all- and despite being in the middle of nowhere, there were a lot of people around, so when totality began, there was this collective gasp that was almost as amazing as the eclipse itself.

I once bought one for less than $1000… Granted it needed a lot of work to get roadworthy, but about another $2500 later, it had good tires and could drive without overheating, and more importantly, stop too. Girlfriend I had at the time made me give it up, I still resent her for it.
Have you been to southern California?
Don’t even need to not look like a bum, I’ve gone on a few test drives looking like a bum.
But where’s the fun in that?
I did not. But many years ago I had a girlfriend who named mine Roy, as in Orbison. Can’t for the life of me remember why… She liked to have long talks with Roy, but he was quite deaf, had to get right up in there to hear anything…
