That’s a good point about it emerging from certain properties and not just and idea of more complexity. I forgot where I first heard about the complexity being tied to consciousness, but it could be a simple property that we are overlooking. It might be a simple process that we are just not aware of. I do agree there is a sweet spot where a lot of these interactions could happen, but if it’s too hot or too cold then nothing.
Maybe our consciousness wasn’t actually “supposed to” happen. We might just be an accidental by-product of what the universe is actually working towards.
Notyou@sopuli.xyzto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What game from your childhood is most nostalgic for you?2·2 days agoYes. Malcolm’s revenge or something like that. That’s more click action like qfg3+ vs typing out everything like qfg1&2. It’s easy to get lost without a guide in the earlier games.

Notyou@sopuli.xyzto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What game from your childhood is most nostalgic for you?2·3 days agoI loved that Quest for Glory soundtrack.
Is Kyrandia the one where you play a jester in the 3rd game? I remember liking that one a lot.
Notyou@sopuli.xyzto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL the generic but world famous 'Happy Birthday to You' song was actually copyrighted until 2016English2·3 days agoIs that what happened? I knew there was some court copyright thing about the song that changed around then. I had no idea it was just someone claiming they owned it and got called out. 😂
Some restaurants started singing the normal Happy Birthday song and I kinda miss those corny restaurant ones.
If it’s emergent, it seems less presumptuous to assume that the most complex interconnected system of all, the universe itself, wouldn’t develop consciousness.
I was, no shit, just thinking about this on my break about an hour ago. God or whatever you wanna call them. If there was a way to develop more consciousness by adding more information to the universe. If consciousness emerges to solve complex problems then maybe if we populate/terraform planets then we will have a deeper understanding.
Right, but you are stating for a fact that these changes occured. All we know is a 1 sentence description about how his mom changed from the POV of when he was a child.
Mum went from a happy hippie chick to Disney villain toxic narcissist.
A young mom losing her spouse is enough to shock your whole world and plan for life. She (I’m assuming) saw the money as security to help raise her son. Idk either way there is unprocessed trauma. I think, we agree with that fact. I just find it weird to be so 100% on diagnosising a mental illness with so little information.
You don’t think a young mother whose husband died would be a big enough significant emotional event to cause any change in the mother? Making up other unknowns isn’t really necessary.
Unless they aren’t actually trying to win and they are just controlled by corporate interests to be controlled opposition.

I have noticed switching my gaming to more indie titles to be easier for me to pick up and play. The big games with the big stories are just too much. I still having finished AC:Black Flag, but I enjoyed sailing around. I think there was just too much to do in big games.
I’m playing Blasphemous now, but there are so many games to check out. Most people know Hollow Knight or Ori series, but Katana Zero was interesting. If you like reading Disco Elysium is a fun game that you need to read. And there’s copyright fuckery for the creators of DE, so pirate away without shame.
This was a great series. So much nostalgia.
I did work with an individual that liked to say ‘ciao bella’ when he left. I’m glad he got fired. Not because of that, but because he didn’t do the job which caused other people to do more work.
Ronnie Coleman is the only person on earth that I know of as being able to used to lift 800lbs. I want to bold used to his muscles got strong enough but his tendons, ligaments, and bones weren’t. His body is wrecked and can’t really move without help.
Point is even if someone could pick up 800lbs of gorilla, they ain’t doing much afterwards but getting killed by that gorilla.
It’s true that if you don’t use it you lose it. Especially when you get up in age and people want to do things for you all the time. Your body gets used to not doing those things and so you lose muscle mass or range of motion. Simple things like carrying groceries can help maintain but people get lazy.
