I’m extremely worried about India. While, luckily, Climate is not a politicised issue, they are still spending their energy on religious bullshit instead of climate adaptations. They really need to be spending basically all the wealth they have on adaptations across regions or they are in for a massive shock.
Horses for courses. Every area is different. Some places have geothermal but also need constant heating, so a geothermal town heating system with high density makes sense. Other places are near the equator, and actually need to sink as much heat as possible year round, so separate housing with a lot of greenery to keep everything cool works better. In other places heat and cold is mild so good passive thermal design works well.
Where I live for example, it’s good to prioritise air flow and thermal management, something which is significantly harder in an apartment. Having said that, during particularly cold nights, an apartment actually works better (but this is for a month in the year).

I love Lemmy. I often come in here thinking about the downsides of an article and it’s usually the top voted comment. Contrast with the… other… site… where the top comment is probably racist posted by a bot.
Also, it’s clearly not working, because you can’t buy insurance 100 years out. All the insurance companies do is jack up the prices every year until a property becomes uninsurable. As for house prices, the lower cost and therefore most at-risk ones are the only options for the poor. They have no options but to take the risk.
My guess is that the intent here is to destabilise any investment in green tech. Whatever loans were being given out probably have a higher interest with the probability that the LNP get in.

Not a recommendation exactly, but I use the Ryobi 18V range. The good part is that the mower, whipper snipper, etc are cheap, but the real win is that the batteries can be shared. This means I feel like the investment in the batteries is worth it, even as they age out. Ryobi batteries are also pretty good. Really wish a larger company like, say, Makita, had a shared battery system as large as Ryobi.

I think part of the issue is that the Greens ended up dependent on Russian Gas, and this was overall a bad move.
