  • People who say that tend to be incapable of taking the day off. They’re pretty dull people to have a conversation with. Unless of course you happen to be the same sort of dull as they are.

Yes, everything’s political to some degree. But you don’t have to make everything political like your ideology is your entire personality or something. That’s why people say they don’t like politics.

Kennedy got to the moon by giving some Nazis a free pass for heavy participation in the Holocaust.

Clinton got to the White House by pushing for and signing the death warrant for a man who was executed with a mental age of 9 as a campaign stunt. Also a serial molester.

Obama became Pakistan’s No.1 Wedding crasher, had a personal kill list, reneged on his promise to close the US concentration camp in Cuba and bugged Merkel’s phone.

If these are the best examples someone can come up with, it rather illustrates how we got to this point. Those were the “good” ones.

  • Britain’s a bit different, as it’s caught in a perfect storm. It got a large amount of its energy from Russia, and the invasion hit just as Britain was also pouring massive investment into renewables and nuclear, which has to be paid for via energy bills. Add onto that the £40bn annual loss to the economy from Brexit and yeah, prices aren’t going down any time soon, but it isn’t necessarily because of profiteering. For example, rail freight operators have mothballed their electric fleet because the tariff per mile is so much higher than diesel at the moment. And they’re a business sector who can readily change from electricity.
